This is a template for modeling static props for CS:GO as of 5/18/13 by teknogeek1300

Requirments:

CS:GO && CS:GO SDK
3dsmax version supporting SMD Export plugin found here: [Please login or register to view this link]
VTFEdit/photo editing program for custom textures. VTFEdit allows you to import images and save them int he correct format, also allows you to edit the VMT files [Please login or register to view this link]
Notepad for editing VMT/QC/batch files.

What I have provided:

Full folder structure for easy copy/past template
Example 3ds max file with texture(dev_measuregeneric01.bmp)
Example VMT(material file) and VTF(sdk material)
Easy batch compiler(basicbox_compile.bat)!(you may need to edit this file if you are not using the same game paths I am)

EASY SETUP:

Copy "steamapps" folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\, Overwrite all files/folders
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\models\props\, Open "basicbox.3ds" with 3ds max.
File/Export Selcted(make sure "basicbox" is selected in view) to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\models\props\basicbox.SMD (same directory as .max), make sure "Export Reference SMD" is selected, nothing else checked
File/Export Selcted(make sure "basicbox_phys" is selected in view) to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\models\props\basicbox_phys.SMD (same directory as .max), make sure "Export Reference SMD" is selected, nothing else checked
File/Export Selcted(make sure "basicbox" is selected in view again) to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\models\props\basicbox.SMD (same directory as .max), again make sure "Export Sequence SMD" is selected, set ranges to "0" & "1", leave reverse and unchecked.
Run "basicbox_compile.bat" located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\models\props\ (same working directory)

Hopefully at this point it will create a "basicbox.mdl" in the directory. At that point, use hammer or model viewer to test.
